BMW Car Crash: Accused Gaganpreet Kaur sent to judicial custody

The accused, Gaganpreet Kaur Makkad has been sent to 2-day judicial custody by a Delhi Court.

Kaur rammed her BMW car into Navjot Singh and his wife in Dhaula Kuan.

Gaganpreet Kaur, accused of driving her BMW over a couple in Delhi two days back, was remanded to judicial custody on Monday. 

The 38-year-old woman rammed here BMW into a motorcycle near Dhaula Kuan in Delhi. As a result, the person driving the two-wheeler, a Finance Ministry official, Navjot Singh, was declared dead while his wife, Sandeep Kaur has sustained multiple fractures and head injuries.

Singh and his wife were returning home from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara.

Allegedly, after the crash, the woman driver and her husband, who was also in the car, transported the injured couple not to the nearest facility but to Nuelife Hospital in GTB Nagar, about 17 km away.

The deceased's wife has alleged in her FIR that the accused woman deliberately avoided taking her injured husband to the nearest hospital despite her repeated requests.

As per the police, the collision occurred around midday, when they received multiple calls about a traffic jam. At the accident spot the officers found the BMW lying on its side and the motorcycle near the divider.

The police is further hinting at a possibility of tampering with the medical reports of the accused woman who was also treated at the same hospital.

As per the FIR, Makkad has been booked on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, obstruction of evidence, rash driving and endangering lives under sections 281, 125B, 105, and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
