Delhi High Court declares additional holidays for Holi week, reschedules matters and notifies compensatory Saturday sittings to offset judicial time.

The Delhi High Court has officially extended the upcoming Holi break, declaring additional holidays in early March. An official notification issued on Friday confirms that the court will now observe a week-long closure to facilitate the festive season.

As per the notification, the court has declared March 2 (Monday, March 3 (Tuesday), and March 7 (Saturday) as holidays. Since Wednesday through Friday were already scheduled breaks, the High Court will remain closed for the entire first week of March.

"It is notified for information of all concerned that Monday, the 2nd March 2026, Tuesday, the 3rd March 2026, and Saturday, the 7th March 2026 have been declared holidays for this court," the notification read. To ensure no loss of judicial time, the High Court will function on March 28 and April 25 (both Saturdays).

"In lieu of holidays on Monday, the 2nd March 2026 and Tuesday, the 3rd March 2026; Saturday, the 28th March 2026 and Saturday, the 25th April 2026, respectively, have been declared as court sitting days for this court," it added.

The cases originally set for March 2, March 3 and March 7 will be taken up on March 28, April 25 and March 9.

"It is further informed that Monday, the 2nd March 2026 and Tuesday, the 3rd March 2026 have been declared as holidays for the courts subordinate to this court," the court said. Subordinate courts in Delhi will also remain closed, the HC said.

As per the notification, March 14 and April 11 have been declared as court sitting days for subordinate courts to compensate for holidays on March 2 and 3.

Cases originally scheduled for the March holidays in the courts subordinate to this court will be heard on these respective second Saturdays.
