Delhi HC Issue Summons To YouTuber Ajeet Bharti In TFI Media’s Defamation Suit
The suit has been filed by TFI Media against YouTuber Ajeet Bharti for defamatory posts;
The Delhi High Court has recently issued summons to YouTuber Ajeet Bharti in a Rs 2.1 crore defamation suit filed by The Frustrated Indian (TFI) Media against Bharti over alleged defamatory posts made by him on X Corp (formerly Twitter).
In its order, a bench led by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav stated, "Summons be issued to the defendants by all permissible modes on filing of process fee. Affidavit of service be filed within two weeks."
The case arose after a former TFI employee, Anupam K Singh, tweeted about his exit from TFI. Subsequently, Bharti quoted and reposted the tweet, adding his own comment stating that the TFI office "only does broking work, nothing else."
TFI then reached out to Bharti, requesting him not to post further. However, Bharti posted again in a cryptic tone. TFI has now alleged that these posts have damaged their reputation.
During the course of proceedings, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, representing TFI Media, told the court that the said tweets made by the defendant constitute defamation and are causing great prejudice to them. He also added that the plaintiff (TFI Media) in a very polite manner even reached out to Bharti and requested him not to make such baseless allegations.
Weighing the contentions, the court proceeded to issue notice on the interim injunction plea made by the plaintiff. The court said, "Having considered the nature of the controversy, the Court deems it appropriate to issue notice on this application. The prayer for grant of interim injunction shall be considered after the notice is served on the other side."
Additionally, the court also directed Bharti shall file the written statements within thirty days from the date of receipt of the summons.
The matter will now be heard on July 7, 2025
