"Be that as it may, both parties are ad idem that to find out the truth of the matter, it is imperative to refer the matter to the experts. Accordingly, the matter is referred to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL)," the court said;
The Delhi High Court has recently ordered a probe by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) after some students moved the court alleging possible manipulation in the conduct of the JEE (Main) 2025 exams.
Observing that it is imperative to refer the matter to experts, a bench led by Justice Vikas Mahajan directed that the case be referred to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).
Emphasising the urgency of the matter, the court further asked the Director, CFSL, to expedite the investigation and furnish a report in a sealed cover on or before 22. May 2025.
The direction was issued keeping in view that the JEE (Advanced) 2025 results are scheduled to be declared on June 2, 2025.
Court passed the following direction in a plea moved by two students who appeared for JEE (Main) 2025. One of the student ( Petitioner No. 1), claimed that her original scorecard showed 98.68 percentile in Session I, but the final result showed only 25.58, and her response sheet was also manipulated.
Similarly, another student (Petitioner No. 2) has also alleged that his Session I score dropped from the 94.81 to the 80.41 percentile, and in Session II, there was an alteration in the attempted and unattempted questions.
During the proceedings, Advocate Deepak Jain, appearing for the students, argued that their Session I scorecards had been manipulated. He added that the original scorecards downloaded from the NTA website are no longer available, and that the allegedly manipulated scorecards with incorrect scores had been uploaded.
On the other hand, Senior Advocate Rupesh Kumar, appearing for NTA contended that there was no manipulation in the scorecards, adding that the same were also emailed to both petitioners.
He further told the Court that the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has also certified that there was no manipulation in the scorecards or the response sheets.
After taking note of the submissions made by both parties, the Court ordered a probe by experts and directed the Registry to send all relevant documents and details to the CFSL. It also asked the parties to coordinate with the Registry in this regard.
The Court made it clear that the interim directions will depend on the final outcome of the case.
