The Delhi High Court has recently permitted Bollywood actor and comedian Rajpal Naurang Yadav to travel to Melbourne, Australia, for a promotional film event.
The vacation bench led by Justice Rajneesh Kumar Gupta allowed the application moved by Yadav seeking permission to travel between June 27 and July 5, 2025, to promote his upcoming film “Mera Kale Rang Da Yaar.”
“Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case, the present application is allowed,” the court stated.
The instant application had been moved by Yadav under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS).
Appearing for Yadav, Senior Advocate Nandita Rao submitted that Yadav was required to attend scheduled promotional events in Australia and assured the court of compliance with all conditions.
On the other hand, the respondent’s counsel, Advocate Avneet Singh Sikka, pointed out that Petitioner No. 2 had already been permitted to travel abroad, and there was no passport left to be deposited as security.
Taking note of the submissions, the court permitted them to travel abroad, subject to the following conditions:
(i) He shall furnish an FDR of Rs. 1 lakh, which shall be deposited with the Registry.
(ii) He shall furnish his mobile number and e-mail ID at the time of furnishing FDR, which shall be kept operational at all times during the period of visit in Melbourne, Australia.
(iii) The contact details shall also be informed to the concerned investigating officer.
Further, the Court said that his passport, currently with the trial court, would be released but must be re-deposited once he returns to India.
Notably, Rajpal Yadav had been engaged in a loan recovery case and was convicted under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act for failing to repay a Rs 5 crore loan taken for his 2010 film venture.
However, a coordinate bench of the High Court had suspended his sentence in June 2024. The bench had said that Rajpal and his wife were not habitual offenders.
It is to be noted that the matter is currently pending, and the couple has been advised to explore an amicable settlement through the Mediation Centre.
