Delhi High Court directs Centre to decide on establishing separate complex for NCLT, NCLAT within 8 weeks
The division bench directed the Centre to decide within eight weeks on establishing a separate complex for the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
;A division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad of the Delhi High Court recently directed the Centre to decide on establishing a separate complex for National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) within eight weeks.
During the hearing in the matter, Senior Advocate Amarjit Singh Chandiok for the petitioner Association, submitted before the court that the Bar has provided a list of specific plots as well as other buildings that are under construction to develop a complex to house the NCLT and the NCLAT.
Senior Panel Counsel Bharathi Raju for the Centre submitted that a list of all plots/buildings under construction should be handed over to her so that she can forward it to the authorities for a decision on establishing a separate complex for NCLT and NCLAT.
Taking note of the submissions, the court directed the Centre to decide on the same within eight weeks of receiving the aforementioned list.
The bench also directed the Centre to consider allocating the entire floor of the building, where the NCLT is currently located, to the NCLT, as space is now available, as evidenced by the Status Report. “The Respondents shall also comply with the undertakings given by them in the Status Report,” the court added.
The bench listed the matter for February 3, 2022 for further hearing.
