[Gazwa-e-Hind Case] NIA files chargesheet against accused before Special Court in Patna

The National Investigation Agency on January 6, 2023, filed chargesheet against an accused before the NIA Special Court, Patna in a case over “radicalization of impressionable youth over various social media platforms for carrying out violent terrorist acts”.

The accused Marghoob Ahmad Danish@ Tahir Ahmed has been chargesheeted under Sections 121 (Waging or attempting to wage war or abetting the waging of war, against the Government of India), 121A (Conspiring to commit certain offenses against the State), 122 (Collecting arms, etc., to wage war against the Government of India) of IPC, and Sections 13, 18 (Conspiracy), 18B (Recruiting persons for the terrorist act) & 20 (Punishment for being a member of terrorist gang or organization) of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

According to NIA investigations, accused Marghoob Ahmad Danish was the admin of the WhatsApp Group 'Ghazwa E Hind', which was created by a Pakistani national named Zain, and had added many people from India as well as other countries, including Pakistan and Yemen, with the intent of radicalizing them and forming sleeper cells to carry out terrorist activities.

“Accused Marghoob Ahmad Danish had created the said ‘Ghazwa E Hind’ group on different social media platforms viz WhatsApp, Telegram, and Bip Messenger. He had also created another WhatsApp group in the name of ‘BDGhazwa E HindBD’ and had added Bangladeshi nationals”, the federal agency’s press release stated.

As per the NIA press release, the case was initially registered on July 14, 2022, at Phulwarisharif, Police Station, Patna, Bihar, and later re-registered by NIA on July 22, 2022.
