Haryana Court grants bail to Chief Engineer Daulat Ram Bhaskar in multi-crore Municipal Corporation scam
The irregularities reported by the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, Haryana occurred between 2015 and 2020, Bhaskar served as Chief Engineer, Municipal Corporation, Faridabad from April 25, 2017 to January 20, 2019.
The District and Sessions Court, Faridabad, Haryana has granted bail to a Chief Engineer of Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, (MCF) Daulat Ram Bhaskar, accused in the multi-crore scam of the grant of tenders and work allocation in several wards in the area.
Bhaskar has been granted bail in an FIR registered against him on June 16, 2022, by the State Vigilance Bureau.
He was in custody since May 13, 2022, and is currently being investigated in two separate FIRs in which he is named accused. The FIRs include the names of contractor Satveer, Chief Engineer Bhaskar, and Raman Sharma among others.
On April 6, State Vigilance Bureau arrested Satveer, since then Bhaskar was absconding. Both the chief engineers Bhaskar and Sharma have been suspended by the government.
The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, Haryana reported irregularities that occurred between 2015 and 2020, accordingly, the scam got exposed in May 2020. The Corporate Commissioner got the matter investigated at his level, and when irregularities were found in the payment to the contractor, he recommended a probe by the State Vigilance Bureau.
The State Vigilance Bureau is investigating the matter since the year 2020.
On May 14, 2022, Bhaskar was arrested by the State Vigilance Bureau from a flat of his acquaintance in Sector-21D, Faridabad. Vigilance had produced Bhaskar in the court of area magistrate Sumit Turkia.
Bhaskar served as Chief Engineer for the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad from April 25, 2017, to January 20, 2019.
