Kumbh Viral Girl Monalisa Moves MP High Court Over Birth Certificate Dispute After Interfaith Marriage

A writ petition has been filed before the Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court by film actress Monalisa Bhosle and her husband Farman Khan seeking restoration of her birth certificate, quashing of what they describe as forged records, and an independent investigation into an alleged conspiracy involving fabricated documents and communal incitement following their marriage.

The petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution, claims that Bhosle is a major and that official records consistently record her date of birth as January 1, 2008. According to the plea, the controversy surrounding her age emerged only after her marriage to Khan, whom the petition describes as a Malayalam film actor. The couple has alleged that false documents were subsequently created to portray Bhosle as a minor.

The plea states that Bhosle and Khan met during the shooting of a Malayalam film in Kerala and later developed a relationship. According to the petition, Bhosle travelled to Kerala again in March 2026 with her father and other relatives. It has been alleged that after disagreements arose over an arranged marriage proposal, she approached the Thampanoor Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram and submitted a complaint against her father alleging threats and coercion.

The petition further claims that Kerala Police verified her Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter identification card and birth certificate through official government portals and found that she had attained majority. The plea states that after this verification, the couple married at Arumanoor Nairan Deva Temple in Poovar on March 11, 2026 and subsequently registered their marriage under the Kerala Registration of Marriage Rules, 2008.

According to the petition, Bhosle’s father later returned to Madhya Pradesh and allegedly conspired with several persons to alter birth records in order to falsely depict her as a minor. The plea alleges that the genuine birth certificate issued by Nagar Panchayat Maheshwar was unlawfully cancelled from the government portal without notice or authority of law. It further alleges that fabricated records were later submitted before authorities and courts to support a criminal case lodged against Khan.

The petitioners have also alleged that social media campaigns and television appearances portrayed Khan as a “terrorist” and branded the marriage as “Love Jihad” in an attempt to create communal hostility. The plea states that these actions endangered the couple’s safety and forced them to frequently change locations in Kerala due to threats and intimidation.

Referring to the Supreme Court decisions in Lata Singh v. State of Uttar Pradesh and Shafin Jahan v. Asokan K.M., the petition argues that the right of consenting adults to choose a life partner is protected under Article 21 of the Constitution. The plea also cites the judgment in Justice K.S. Puttaswamy v. Union of India to contend that decisional autonomy forms an essential part of personal liberty.

The petition seeks restoration of Bhosle’s birth certificate, production of original identification documents before the court, and a court monitored investigation into alleged forgery, criminal conspiracy and communal incitement. The matter has been filed through advocates B.L. Nagar, Subhash Chandran K.R. and Anirudh K.P.

The petition also refers to an interim order passed by the Kerala High Court on March 23, 2026 in an anticipatory bail application moved by the couple after registration of an FIR at Maheshwar Police Station in Khargone district. According to the plea, the Kerala High Court granted interim protection from arrest while noting the couple’s submission that they were legally married and residing together as husband and wife.

The petition additionally states that Bhosle later lodged a separate complaint before the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ernakulam, alleging offences including forgery of public records, criminal conspiracy and communal incitement. Pursuant to that complaint, an FIR bearing No. 0435 of 2026 was registered at Ernakulam Central Police Station, the plea states. The matter is expected to come up before the High Court for consideration on the question of urgent interim relief to petitioners.
