In a relief to Kollywood actors Srikanth and Krishna, the Madras High Court on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, granted them conditional bail in a case linked to alleged cocaine consumption.

A bench presided over by Justice M Nirmal Kumar granted relief to both actors, subject to the condition that they shall report daily at the Nungambakkam police station until further orders.

Srikanth was arrested on June 23, followed by Krishna on June 26, after medical tests allegedly detected traces of cocaine in both actors during the course of a drug-related investigation.

According to the prosecution, the case emerged during a probe into an attempt to murder case involving former AIADMK functionary Prasath, who revealed details about a wider drug racket. Based on his disclosure, the police arrested the alleged kingpin, Pradeep Kumar. Kumar's statement eventually led to Srikanth’s arrest, followed by Krishna’s.

During the hearing, Senior Advocate John Sathyan, appearing for Srikanth, argued that the arrest was solely based on the confession of the main accused, Pradeep Kumar. He pointed out that no drugs were found in Srikanth’s possession and that the actor was at home with his child when he was arrested.

Appearing for Krishna, Advocate Infant Dinesh contended that the actor had fully cooperated with the investigation and complied with all summons. Despite that, he was arrested, Dinesh argued, while also adding that Krishna’s medical reports did not indicate any drug consumption.
