Madras HC introduces mandatory e-filing of anticipatory bail petitions from Feb 7
As per the notification issued by the high court Registrar General, the facility of e-filing of cases has been made mandatory initially for Anticipatory Bail Applications only.
;The Madras High Court has decided to introduce mandatory e-filing of anticipatory bail petitions from February 7 at both benches of the high court.
The notification dated February 3, 2023, issued by the Registrar General of the high court stated,
"It is hereby notified that the facility of e-filing of cases is made mandatory (initially for Anticipatory Bail Applications only) in the Principal Seat and Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on e-filing portal (https://efiling.ecourts.gov.in) developed by the Hon'ble e-Committee, Supreme Court of India which will commence on and from 07.02.2023."
As per the notification, before e-filing, the Advocate or Party-in-person shall be required to create a user account on the e-filing portal and the account creation process shall be verified by One Time Password (OTP) which will be sent to the Mobile Number and e-mail ID of the Advocate / Party-in-person concerned.
It is also mentioned in the notification that the detailed guidelines and tutorial video prepared by the high court for the e-filing process and the detailed user manual prepared by the e-Committee, Supreme Court of India along with the steps required to be taken as per the existing practice of the Madras High Court, are available in the website of Madras High Court (http://www.hemadras.tn.nic.in).
Moreover, in case of any difficulty, the Advocate / Party-in-person may also avail the helpline 14627 between 10.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on all working days. They may also approach the Help Desk Counters in the Principal Seat of the high court.
Furthermore, the Advocate/Party-in-person have been asked to avail of the e-filing facility, using their own electronic gadgets.
Apart from the e-filing, the high court will also operate a portal from the same day to submit online applications for issuance of certified copies of judgments and daily orders.
Through another notification, the Registrar General has informed that the NIC, High Court unit and the In-house Software team of the high court have developed an "Online Certified Copy Application Portal" to issue Certified Copies of Judgments/Orders/documents.
The Online Copy Application shall be accessed through the https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/eservices/copyapp.
Moreover, the user manual titled 'Online Copy Application Procedure enumerating the steps for submitting the application shall also be uploaded on the website.
