NIA Court Bilaspur convicts and sentences seven in Fake Indian currency notes case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court, Bilaspur on June 30, 2022 convicted and sentenced seven accused persons in connection with the Janjgir-Champa Fake Indian currency notes (FICN) case in Chattisgarh.
The convicts are:
- Devendra Chandra @ Devendra Kumar to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for 7 years under sections 489A, 489B, 489C, and 120B of IPC with a fine of Rs. 5000/- in each offense.
- Manoj Sahu @ Manoj Kumar Sahu to RI for 7 years under sections 489A, 489B, 489C, 489D, and 120B of IPC with a fine of Rs. 5000/- in each offense.
- Rohit Bharadwaj @ Rohit Kumar to RI for 7 years under sections 489A, 489C, and 120B of IPC with a fine of Rs. 5000/- in each offense.
- Dilip Mahilange @ Dilip Kumar Mahilange to RI for 7 years under sections 489A, 489C, 489D, 255, 256, 259 and 120B of IPC with Fine of Rs. 5000/- in each offence.
- Doman Miri @ Doman Singh Miri to RI for 7 years under sections 489A, 489C, 489D, and 120B of IPC with a fine of Rs. 5000/- in each offense.
- Nohar Sinha to RI for 7 years under sections 489A, 489C, and 120B of IPC with a fine of Rs. 5000/- in each offense.
- Hemlal Sahu to RI for 7 years under sections 489B and 120B of IPC with a fine of Rs. 5000/- in each offense.
The case relates to the seizure of FICN amounting to Rs.7.39 lakhs stamp papers and other material objects from the possession of the accused persons. On the disclosures of the accused persons, a huge amount of FICN was seized from the accused persons.
As per the NIA press release the case was initially registered in Hasoud police station of Janjgir-Champa district of Chattisgarh on June 20, 2019, and was re-registered by NIA on August 9, 2019.
After investigations, NIA had filed a Charge-sheet against the accused persons on September 8, 2020, the press release stated.
