In a stern move, the Rohini Bar Association has stated that non-lawyers are not allowed to wear white shirts and black trousers inside the court complex.

The Bar body, in a notice signed by Honorary Secretary Pradeep Khatri, stated, “It is hereby notified that no clerk, litigant, or member of the general public is permitted to wear a white shirt and black pants during their visit to the court complex.”

It further added, “This attire is strictly reserved for respected lawyers/advocates as a mark of professional identity and the dignity of the legal fraternity.”

This directive followed another notice issued on July 14, 2025, wherein the Bar body said it had received multiple complaints that touts were impersonating advocates or their clerks, thereby misleading illiterate litigants and damaging the reputation of genuine legal professionals.

In a notice, the RCBA stated,“The Executive Committee of the Rohini Court Bar Association (RCBA), through several respected members of the Bar and multiple complaints from the general public and litigants, has found that a number of touts are falsely representing themselves as official advocates or clerks of advocates. These individuals are misleading and defrauding uneducated litigants under false pretenses.”

Calling the issue alarming, the Association said such actions tarnish the dignity of the legal profession and seriously affect the livelihood of genuine and respected members of the Bar.

To counter this, the RCBA has also made it mandatory for every advocate to obtain authorised ID cards for their clerks, which will be issued only after proper verification. The Association warned that strict legal and disciplinary action will be taken against anyone working without such an ID.
