Plea concerning death of tigress, four cubs at Karnataka wildlife sanctuary filed before Supreme Court
Court has been told that the tigress ate a cow carcass laced with pesticide.;
The issue concerning death of a tigress and her four cubs at the Male Mahadeshwara Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, Karnataka, has reached the Supreme Court of India.
A CJI BR Gavai led bench today heard a plea filed over the state's worst single-day tiger death toll at a single location. The bench also comprising Justices K Vinod Chandran and Joymalya Bagchi has issued notice on the petition moved before it.
Senior Advocate K Parameshwar told the supreme court that as per a preliminary report the tigress ate a cow carcass laced with pesticide.
As per media reports, the investigation committee has said that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals have confirmed the use of Carbofuran in the tiger death case.
