A Delhi Court last week issued an arrest warrant against Former Indian Women’s U-17 Football Assistant Coach Alex Mario Ambrose in a Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Case, the Indian Express reports.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) POCSO Gagandeep Jindal of the Dwarka Court issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) under Section 70 (compel the appearance or arrest of any person or search any place that the court requires) of the Code of Criminal Procedure against Former Indian Women’s U-17 Football Assistant Coach Alex Mario Ambrose.
Ambrose is alleged to have misconducted with a minor during the training and exposure tour of Europe in June 2022. He was suspended and called back to Norway.
He had denied any wrongdoing and had sent a legal notice to the All India Football Federation for "tarnishing" his reputation with frivolous charges.
The ASJ has listed the matter for further hearing on February 25.
According to ANI, the criminal proceedings against Ambrose began in July 2022, after he was named as an accused under the POCSO Act.
