AIIMS Delhi submitted its court-ordered second post-mortem report in the Twisha Sharma death case to the CBI after confirming skin tissue on the alleged gymnastics belt matched the neck injury pattern
The AIIMS Delhi medical board constituted by the Madhya Pradesh High Court has submitted its final forensic report in the Twisha Sharma death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), confirming that skin tissue found on the alleged ligature material; a gymnastics belt, matched the injury pattern on the victim's neck.
Importantly, the High Court recorded that the head injury was “antemortem” in nature. “As per the postmortem report, the death was due to antemortem hanging by ligature, but from the postmortem, it is also clear that six other injuries were found in the body of the deceased… From the query report, it is also clear that these injuries were not caused by taking out the body from the ligature or carrying out to the hospital,” the Court observed.
The development came on the same day that Singh appeared before a court in Jabalpur after remaining untraceable for several days following the registration of the case. His appearance followed proceedings before the Madhya Pradesh High Court, where his counsel informed the court that he was willing to surrender before the competent authority. Police subsequently took him into custody for further investigation.
The investigation has witnessed several dramatic developments over the past week. Earlier, Singh had sought anticipatory bail in connection with the case after a sessions court denied him protection from arrest. However, during proceedings before the High Court, his side indicated willingness to surrender, leading to a significant shift in the course of the matter.
