NALSA, MCPC to conduct 90-day long MEDIATION ‘FOR THE NATION’ Campaign under guidance of CJI Gavai, Justice Surya Kant
This pan India campaign is being organised with the objectives to settle suitable matters pending in the Courts right from Taluka Courts to the High Courts of India and taking mediation to every nook and corner of the country as people’s friendly mode of dispute resolution.;
National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) under the guidance of CJI BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant has conceptualized a 90-day long MEDIATION ‘FOR THE NATION’ Campaign which begins on July 1, 2025 and will continue till September 30, 2025.
The special campaign intends to involve all existing Mediators including the Mediators who have undergone 40 Hours Mediation Training recently. The campaign will witness Mediation Settlement efforts on all 7 days of the week as per the convenience of the parties.
To ensure the success of this special drive Mediation may be conducted completely offline in physical mode completely in online mode or in Hybrid mode. Taluka or District Legal Services Authority shall facilitate online Mediation. This campaign will be monitored by Mediation Monitoring Committee of the High Courts in their respective State. In settlement efforts, assistance of counsellor and/or subject matter expert shall be taken as per the need.
The categories of matters eligible for Mediation include those pending under matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence, cheque bounce, commercial disputes, service matters, criminal compoundable cases, consumer disputes, debt recovery cases, partition cases, eviction cases, land acquisition matters and other suitable civil cases.
Identified matters will be listed in the Cause list from 01.07.2025 to 31.07.2025 under the Heading “For Referral to the Special Mediation Drive” and all such matters in which there exists an element of settlement shall be referred for mediation in this drive.
The process of case identification, information to parties and referral to Mediators will commence from 01.07.2025 and continue till 31.07.2025. Transmission of data regarding total matters referred to Mediation and total matters settled will be compiled by 06.10.2025 and sent to the MCPC.
