The National Board of Examination (NBE) has approached the Supreme Court of India seeking to reschedule the NEET PG 2025 exam which is slated to be held over 900 centres across India on June 15.

An application filed through Advocate Mrinal Kumar Sharma seeks to allow NBE to conduct the exam now on August 8.

"Allow the present application and permit the Applicant to schedule the NEET PG 2025 on 03.08.2025 which is the earliest possible available date given by its technology partner i.e., TCS...", the application submits.

This application comes as a response to the Supreme Court's recent direction to the NBE to conduct the NEET-PG 2025 exam in one sitting for all 2.4 lakh candidates instead of the scheduled two shifts.

A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Kumar and NV Anjaria refused to accept the submission that enough centers could not be found to accommodate all candidates in one shift.

"Any two question papers can never be said to have an identical level of difficulty or ease", the bench had observed.

A plea was filed before the top court challenging a notification on holding the NEET-PG 2025 examination in two shifts highlighting the potential for unfairness and inconsistencies in a two-shift format.

On a submission that the process for identifying additional secure examination centres could result in postponing the exam date, the bench said if the authorities require postponement of the test for finding more centres, it would have to seek permission from the court.
