Red Fort Car blast: CJI Gavai conveys condolence to affected families
An explosion tore through a slow-moving car near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening.
CJI Gavai has said may the departed souls rest in eternal peace.
The Chief Justice of India BR Gavai has expressed that he is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives caused by the car blast that occurred in Delhi on the evening of 10th November 2025.
At least eight people were killed and 30 injured in a powerful explosion that tore through a slow-moving car near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening. The blast, described as high intensity, set multiple vehicles ablaze and shattered nearby window panes.
"On behalf of the Supreme Court of India and the entire judicial as well as legal fraternity in the country, I convey our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this devastating tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving, as well as with those who are injured or otherwise affected. No words can truly ease the pain of such loss, yet we hope that the collective compassion and solidarity of the nation will o er some comfort in this hour of sorrow", the CJI has said.
In this moment of grief, the CJI has said, the legal fraternity stands in solidarity with the bereaved. "We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to uphold the rule of law, ensure justice, and safeguard the dignity of every citizen. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace. May courage and solace reach the bereaved families and all those who mourn this irreparable loss.", the message adds.
In a briefing after the explosion, union Home Minister Amit Shah said that a Hyundai i20 car had exploded at the Subhash Marg traffic signal. Shah said that the incident was being investigated by top agencies “taking all possibilities into account”, adding that the results will be presented before the public.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also taken stock of the situation and spoken to Home Minister Shah regarding the situation. “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover as soon as possible. Those affected are being assisted by authorities,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
