Supreme Court stays Goa Sports Authority weightlifting coach recruitment process
The process has been challenged on the basis of alleged bias.;
The Supreme Court of India on Monday July 7th stayed the selection process of a weightlifting coach undertaken by the Sports Authority of Goa.
A bench of Justices Pankaj Mithal and KV Vishwanathan permitted a special leave petition filed by Vaishnavi S Ugadekar while staying the order impugned dated 23.06.2025 passed by the High Court.
Court has also issued notice in the SLP returnable within six weeks.
Ugadekar, who is also contesting for the post, challenged the recruitment process on the grounds that her former coach, against whom she had previously filed a harassment complaint, was one of the examiners.
The recruitment process was divided into three-stages and it contained a physical fitness test, a practical test, and a written examination.
It is the petitioner's case that though she has cleared the physical test, she suffered bias and her rival received undue advantage.
