Supreme Court's Samadhan Samaroh Resolves Over 400 Cases On Its First Day
The Special Lok Adalat, which will continue until August 23, is being held under the guidance of the Chief Justice of India as part of the Supreme Court Action for Mediated Adjudication and Disputes Harmonization Across Nation (SAMADHAN) initiative.
Supreme Court has organised the Samadhan Samaroh 2026.
The Special Lok Adalat at the Supreme Court of India resolved over 400 cases on its first day, on August 21, as part of Samadhan Samaroh 2026.
"More than 600 cases were listed for settlement before 16 Special Lok Adalat Benches, each comprising two sitting Judges of the Supreme Court of India, along with senior advocates, Advocates-on-Record (AORs) and other advocates, with more than 400 cases being amicably settled. The benches facilitated dialogue between the parties and assisted them in exploring the possibility of an amicable settlement," a press release stated.
Recently, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has said that the Supreme Court’s Samadhan Samaroh initiative aims to resolve pending cases through mediation in a manner that leaves both parties with a feeling that they have won.
In an interview with Akashwani’s News On AIR, the CJI said litigants suffer considerable stress during judicial proceedings and the initiative seeks to provide them a mutually acceptable resolution.
“Applicants suffer from huge stress during judicial proceedings. The focus is to ensure that both parties leave the court with a feeling that they have both won. We have organised the Samadhan Samaroh in the Supreme Court from August 21 to 23. Through this initiative, we aim to reduce the pendency of cases in the Supreme Court through mediation and mutual agreement,” Justice Surya Kant said. He said the initiative would include resolution of cases through mediation benches, gram panchayats, conciliation and community mediation.
