Trilegal Advises Entertainment Platform BookMyShow On Investment From KKR
The investment by KKR is expected to support BookMyShow’s next phase of growth, including the continued expansion of its live entertainment business and broader entertainment offering across India.
Trilegal has advised BigTree Entertainment Private Limited (which owns and operates BookMyShow) on the investment by global investment firm KKR, pursuant to definitive agreements under which funds managed by KKR will acquire a minority stake in BookMyShow India’s leading entertainment destination.
Trilegal advised BookMyShow on the transaction from the term sheet stage through execution, including drafting and negotiation of the transaction documentation, coordination with BookMyShow’s internal stakeholders and transaction advisors, and advising on the regulatory aspects of the transaction. Trilegals competition law team is also advising BookMyShow in connection with the approval required from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) prior to closing of the transaction.
Established in 2007, BookMyShow has evolved from a ticketing platform into a full-stack entertainment company, combining technology, consumer reach and deep industry capabilities across movies, live entertainment and experiences. A key part of this evolution has been BookMyShow Live, the Company’s live entertainment experiences division, which operates across the value chain – from talent and IP acquisition to production, promotion, partnerships, and audience development. Through sustained investment in the ecosystem, BookMyShow Live has built the capabilities and scale to bring increasingly ambitious entertainment experiences to India, while contributing to the development of a more robust and commercially viable live entertainment market.
