Trilegal Advises Sarvam AI On USD 300 million Series B Fundraising Round

Sarvam AI has secured $234 million in fresh funding, reaching a valuation of $1.5 billion.
Trilegal advised Axonwise Private Limited (Sarvam AI) and its founders on its latest fundraise at a USD 1.5 billion valuation through the issuance of Series B compulsorily convertible preference shares.
The Series B round is being led by HCL Technologies Limited and Bessemel Ventures Partners, with participation from existing investors Peak XV and Khosla Ventures.
The Bengaluru-based startup has secured $234 million in fresh funding, reaching a valuation of $1.5 billion.
Founded in 2023 by AI researchers Pratyush Kumar and Vivek Raghavan, Sarvam was created with a clear mission: build AI technologies designed specifically for India’s linguistic variety, cultural context, and enterprise requirements. Sarvam builds across the AI stack: training and inference infrastructure, frontier model research, and a go-to-market motion spanning enterprises, developers, and government.
Sarvam gained national attention during the India AI Impact Summit in February 2026. The company unveiled two indigenous large language models with 30 billion and 105 billion parameters. The company showcased Kaze AI smart glasses, which attracted considerable attention after Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the device. Government support has played an important role in the company’s journey. Sarvam became the first startup selected to develop an indigenous foundation model under the programme.
The investment will fund Sarvam’s continued research on training its next frontier model for agentic, coding, and cybersecurity use-cases, as well as access to compute at scale to expand its forward-deployed motion across key verticals.
The Trilegal team advising on the matter was led by Partners: Rahul Matthan (TMT Practice), Nikhil Narendran (TMT Practice), Rahil Pereira (Corporate Practice), Gauri Chhabra (Competition Practice) and Thomas J Vallieneth (TMT Practice); and supported by Counsels: Ishika Goon, Anjana Ravi and Madhav Tampi; Associates: Shourya Pratap Singh Tomar, Dia Shetty, Muhammed Ijaz, Sarashika Eakambaram, Santosh S and Adithi Holla.
