NIA files chargesheet against man accused in ammunition recovery case in West Bengal

Synopsis

The Case pertains to the recovery of explosives, firearms, and ammunition from property under Jagaddal PS, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, West Bengal.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday i.e. August 8, 2022, filed a charge sheet against a man named Namit Singh in a case related to the recovery of bombs, arms, and ammunition from West Bengal’s Jagaddal.

Singh has been booked under Section 4 (Punishment for attempt to cause an explosion, or for making or keeping explosive with intent to endanger life or property) & Section 5 (Punishment for making or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances) of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and Section 25 (1B) (being a manufacturer of, or dealer in, arms or ammunition…..etc.) of Arms Act, 1959.

The investigations have revealed that Namit Singh, was stockpiling explosive substances, firearms, and ammunition to endanger human life in contravention of provisions of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and the Arms act, 1959.

As per the NIA press release, the case was initially registered on March 12, 2022, at Police Station, Jagaddal, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, West Bengal, and later re-registered by NIA on April 8, 2022.
