In 2019, Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia sued six BJP leaders for defamation after they alleged corruption in the building of classrooms in Delhi’s government schools.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed the trial court proceedings against Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma in a defamation case filed by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Manish Sisodia.
A single-judge bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma issued notice in the plea challenging the trial court’s summoning order dated November 28, 2019 and listed the matter for hearing on March 10.
It is to be noted that this month the court stayed the trial court proceeding against BJP Leaders Harish Khurana, Hans Raj Hans, and Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
BJP Leaders Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Hans Raj Hans, Manjinder Singh Sisra, Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Vijender Gupta, and Harish Khurana were issued a summons by an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) under Section 500 (punishment for defamation) read with Section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
