The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government today informed the Delhi High Court that the gathering of Afghan protestors seeking asylum in India outside the office of United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Vasant Vihar has been cleared up, and stated that "This has been resolved. Sometimes we should be grateful to the institution also."

A bench of Justice Rekha Palli took on record the Delhi government's status report and said that as nothing remains in the petition now the case can be closed.

Adv. Shahrukh Ejaz appearing for the petitioner submitted that he has received a status report filed by Delhi Government yesterday, however, he prayed for the court to direct the Ministry of External Affairs to file an affidavit stating that, "Last time there was a Rohingya refugees crisis, they all gathered there."

Flatly refusing the same, the court said it was going to reject the petition altogether if this prayer was going to be pressed.

It went on to record, "Ld. Counsel for the petitioner submits that the respondents after filing status report have taken steps after which there are no longer any foreign nationals outside the UNHCR office. The primary grievance of the petitioner stands satisfied. However, he seeks liberty to approach the court in future. Dismissed as withdrawn, with liberty as prayed for."

The plea stated that the gathering outside the UNHCR office was in complete violation of Covid-19 protocol and could be a super-spreader. The court had remarked at the occasion, "Law is law for all," and directed the Delhi government to take a stand on the issue within 2 days.
