I urge the political parties and those who understand the Constitution of the country, to come forward to make the dream of “One Nation One Election” a reality for the progress of Bharat, PM Modi said
In a compelling and multifaceted address from the Red Fort on Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented an ambitious blueprint for India's future, intertwining national pride with a call for transformative action.
PM Modi began by acknowledging the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters impacting India. He extended heartfelt condolences to those affected and emphasized the nation's solidarity in these times of crisis.
However, the Prime Minister's vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047 emerged as a central theme of his speech. He shared that the government has received numerous suggestions from citizens on how to achieve the vision of a developed Bharat, covering areas like skill development, global manufacturing, and self-reliance.
He highlighted progress in various sectors, including providing electricity to 18,000 villages, clean drinking water to millions, and promoting the 'Vocal for Local' mantra. He also praised India’s achievements in renewable energy and fintech, asserting that India is setting an example for the world in these areas.
Another key feature of Prime Minister's address was his call for reform. He emphasized that the drive for reform is not politically motivated but aimed at strengthening the nation. He outlined various reform initiatives, including enhancements in the banking sector to support MSMEs and small industries. He called for continuous reforms across government institutions, urging them to implement at least two reforms annually to benefit citizens directly.
Modi’s vision for governance included reducing government interference, cutting through bureaucratic red tape, and updating outdated laws. He advocated for a shift from a reliance on government favors to a system of direct service delivery, aiming to improve ease of living for citizens.
PM Modi also highlighted India's commitment to tackling climate change. He announced ambitious targets, such as achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and making the railways net-zero carbon by the same year.
He also introduced the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme to encourage solar energy use and detailed plans for a Green Hydrogen Mission to foster new green jobs.
On governance reforms, PM Modi championed the "One Nation One Election" concept to streamline the electoral process and reduce disruptions in governance.
"All political parties have expressed their views. A committee has prepared a very good report. The country needs to come forward to embrace the concept of “One Nation One Election”. From the ramparts of the Red Fort with the Tricolor as witness, I urge the political parties and those who understand the Constitution of the country, to come forward to make the dream of “One Nation One Election” a reality for the progress of Bharat and the maximum utilization of its resources for the common people," he said.
He also called for a transition to a Secular Civil Code to eliminate religious discrimination and modernize the legal framework.
Concluding his speech, Modi urged every Indian to contribute to the nation’s development, emphasizing that achieving a developed Bharat by 2047 requires determination, hard work, and collective effort.
