A Supreme Court bench of Justices Vineet Saran and Aniruddha Bose today granted interim protection to actress Sherlyn Chopra in the porn racket case. This is the matter in which Poonam Pandey and businessman Raj Kundra are co-accused.

Sunil Fernandes, advocate, appeared for Chopra and submitted that Chopra is aggrieved by the order of the High Court refusing the bail as it is not reasoned and sought for the same order as was passed in Poonam Pandey’s case by the court. The court issued notice and granted protection to Chopra.

The Bombay High Court had rejected her plea for anticipatory bail in  November 2021. Chopra apprehended arrest on account of an FIR registered in 2021 for charges registered under Indian Penal Code and Information Technology act.

Pandey was granted protection on 18th January 2022 in the same case by Supreme Court while Raj Kundra was granted protection from arrest on 16th December 2021  in connection with an FIR registered against him for allegedly distributing pornographic videos.
