Thorat claimed procedural lapses and constitutional violations, alleging that he was not provided with the required investigation documents
The Narcotics Control Bureau recently assured the Bombay High Court that it would provide the arrest memo to a man booked for allegedly growing cannabis in his house.
A division bench of the high court comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice M.M. Sathaye was hearing a petition filed by Vedish Thorat, who claimed that the probe documents were not provided to him.
Thorat alleged that he was not given the arrest memo or the statements recorded by the agency.
Thorat was booked for cultivating cannabis in his Mumbai apartment and receiving a parcel containing 1.23 grams of mescaline. During a search, the probe agency found 489 grams of hydroponic cannabis allegedly cultivated by him.
Thorat claimed procedural lapses and constitutional violations, alleging that he was not provided with the required investigation documents. He argued that the lack of documents prevented him from applying for bail.
The prosecution contended that the arrest memo had been served to Thorat's mother, a claim that Thorat denied.
Subsequently, the Narcotics Control Bureau assured the court that the arrest memo would be re-served to Thorat.
