Allahabad HC Directs Registry Officials to Be Polite and Patient with Advocates; Orders Training Session

The administration of the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday issued direction aimed at fostering a more cooperative and humble approach among officers and officials in various sections of the high court when interacting with advocates and their clerks.

In an office order, the Registrar General outlined the importance of treating counsel with patience and utmost regard.

The order stated, "Learned counsel are the generous class, serving society by representing poor, marginalized and deprived people of the society. Therefore, they must be dealt with patience and utmost regard. The sections must espouse the utmost composure while dealing with learned counsel. All officers /officials must deal with learned counsel, politely and their manner & etiquette must reflect appropriate humility".

The order also extended the responsibility to Registrars and Joint Registrars, who serve as supervisory authorities, to organize briefing sessions within their respective sections to cultivate the desired conduct. These briefing sessions, as outlined in the order, aim to instill proper etiquette and demeanor among officers and officials.

"In this regard all the Registrars / Joint Registrars i.e. Supervisory Authorities are directed to conduct briefing sessions in the sections under their supervisory control, to groom all the officers / officials, with the right etiquette and manner to address learned counsel and their clerks patiently and calmly.

All concerned are directed to make sincere efforts to ensure that no such incident takes place, where learned counsel have to make complaint regarding the bad/rude behavior of any staff," the order read.

In addition, the office order recommended a training session by various Registrars on the third Saturday of next month to raise awareness among the staff regarding the importance of maintaining a positive and respectful interaction with advocates.
