Allahabad High Court reserves judgment in plea against CM Yogi's allegedly objectionable speech

According to the petitioner, CM Yogi's speech which he delivered in Rajasthan's Alwar in 2018 had hurt his religious sentiments.
The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday reserved judgment in a plea seeking direction for registration of a complaint against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his alleged "objectionable speech" made in the Alwar district of Rajasthan in 2018 during an election campaign.
The bench of Justice Samit Gopal reserved the order in the plea filed under Article 227 by one Naval Kishor Sharma through Advocate Mohammed Iftekhar Farruki challenging the order of the lower court.
Adv. Farruki on behalf of the petitioner argued that CM Yogi Adityanath's speech made in Alwar on November 23, 2018 had hurt his religious sentiments.
Arguments were put forth by Adv Farruki on behalf of the petitioner and Senior Advocate/Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal, Additional Government Advocate A.K. Sand and Government Advocate S.K. Pal argued on behalf of the state government.
Earlier, a complaint case was filed by the petitioner in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh which was rejected. Thereafter, his revision petition was also rejected on the ground of territorial jurisdiction after which the petitioner moved the high court seeking direction for the registration of a complaint case.
