The plea states that according to the Hindu calendar, religious events should not take place during the 'month of Pus'

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition has been filed before the Allahabad High Court seeking ban on the impending Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav, the consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol at the under-construction Ram temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22.

One Bhola Das, a resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh has filed the plea contending that according to the Hindu calendar, religious events should not take place during the 'month of Pus'.

The plea further states that since the temple is still in the process of construction, making the consecration of the deity would be inconsistent with the Sanatana tradition.

The plea alleges that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is orchestrating the event with a political motive, purportedly aiming to gain advantages in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The petitioner has cited the objections raised by Shankaracharyas to the event.

"A religious programme is going to be organised in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. The idol of Ram Lalla will be installed at the under-construction temple. The ceremony will be performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Shankaracharyas have an objection to the Pran Pratistha programme. No religious programmes are organised in the month of 'Pus'. The temple is still incomplete. In an incomplete temple, no deity can be consecrated," the petition reads, as per ANI
