Today, the BJP Member of Parliament Pragya Thakur became emotional while recording her statement in the 2008 Malegaon Blast case on Tuesday in the Mumbai trial court.

The Special NIA Trial Court was recording statements from Thakur and other accused individuals as part of Section 313 proceedings in the Code of Criminal Procedure.

During her statement regarding the evidence against her and the medical treatment received by injured individuals in the Malegaon Blast, Pragya Thakur became emotional.

She described the victims' injuries while in the witness box before Special Judge AK Lahoti.

Upon witnessing Thakur's emotional state, Judge Lahoti temporarily halted the proceedings for 10 minutes to allow Thakur to compose herself.

In the 2008 Malegaon Blast case, six individuals lost their lives, and approximately 100 others sustained injuries. The case was initially investigated by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and later transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The NIA presented 323 witnesses during the trial, but 34 of them turned hostile. Following the recording of the victims' testimonies, the court summoned Pragya Thakur and six other accused individuals to record their statements under Section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

Thakur's examination will be continued by the Special Court tomorrow.
