A Single Judge Bench comprising Justice N.J Jamdar of the Bombay High Court has granted bail to NCP Leader Anil Deshmukh in the PMLA Case.

The Court while granting bail, extended the benefit under Section 45 of the PMLA to Anil Deshmukh

The bail order of the High Court will be effective from 13th October.

After Deshmukh was granted bail by the High Court, the counsel for the ED informed the court that the bail order cannot be challenged before the Supreme Court since the Supreme Court will be closed till 13 October.

However, the counsel for Deshmukh told the court that bail was granted to Deshmukh after the extensive hearing.

The High Court has given time till 13th October to ED to approach the Supreme Court, after which the bail order will become effective.

Deshmukh had earlier approached the Bombay High Court (HC) last year, challenging the summons issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate in the alleged money laundering case.

An FIR was registered against Deshmukh, and some unidentified persons on April 24 last year, on charges of corruption and misconduct, following a preliminary inquiry that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted in compliance with the High Court's order. In July last year, the Court refused to quash the FIR lodged by the CBI.

Deshmukh will remain in the Arthur Jail in the corruption case registered by CBI against him.
