The Bombay High Court has sought a fresh psychiatric, psychological, and probation officer report of a man who was convicted of killing his mother and frying her organs to eat them in 2017.

The division bench of the high court, comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Shyam Chandak, was hearing an application filed by the state government seeking confirmation of the death sentence awarded by the Kolhapur Court in 2021.

The convict, Sunil Rama Kochakorvi, also filed an appeal against the order of conviction of the Kolhapur Court.

The prosecution has submitted that in August 2017 Sunil killed his 63 year old mother, fried her organs and ate it.

Advocate Yug Mohit Chaudhary appearing for the Sunil submitted that the state should collect information pertaining to the accused such as his upbringing, surviving family background, education, socio-economic background, criminal antecedents, history of unstable social behavior, or mental or psychological ailments, and alienation of the individual.

Therefore, the court has now sought a report from the prison authorities about Sunil's conduct and behavior, work done (if any), etc., for a more exact and complete understanding of the contemporaneous progress made him.

The high court will now hear the case on July 10.
