Bombay High Court Sets Aside Order Allowing Indrani Mukherjea To Travel Abroad

On July 19, the Special CBI Court allowed Indrani to travel to Europe for 10 days on the condition that she visit the Indian Embassy at least once and obtain an attendance certificate. The CBI filed an appeal before the high court challenging the Special CBI Court's order

The Bombay High Court has allowed the appeal filed by CBI challenging the order allowing Sheena Bora Murder accused Indrani Mukherjea to travel abroad.

A single judge bench of Justice Shyam Chandak while pronouncing the order said that the Sessions Court order was unreasonable and unsustainable.

Advocate Shriram Shirsat, appearing for the CBI, contended that Indrani was the prime accused in the case and that the trial was ongoing.

Advocate Ranjeet Sangle, appearing for Indrani, submitted that she could not travel outside since she did not have her passport.

Indrani Mukerjea was arrested in 2015 on allegations of murdering her daughter, Sheena Bora, with the assistance of her former husband Sanjeev Khanna, present husband Peter Mukerjea, and driver Shyamvar Rai.

In 2021, the High Court rejected Indrani’s bail plea, but she was granted bail by the Supreme Court in 2022.
