Calcutta High Court seeks state's report in Suvendu Adhikari's plea alleging breach of security, surveillance by state

According to ABP Ananda, Bharatiya Janata Party leader of opposition in Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari has approached the Calcutta High Court alleging that state police restricted him from entering Netai village in Jhargram district. The High Court bench of Justice Rajekhar Mantha has sought a report from the state on the issue. 

Adhikari has alleged that against the express permission of the Calcutta High Court, the police did not allow him to enter the Lalgarh Netai. He contended that proper security measures were not taken. The leader of Opposition further alleged that the State is keeping a close watch on his house. 

Justice Rajasekhara Mantha directed that detailed information on the matter to be submitted to the court within a week. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for January 19.

Adhikari also told the court that mic was being played loudly in front of Shuvendu Kanthi's house till midnight. CCTV has been installed at the doors and windows of the house for surveillance. 

In reply, State Advocate General Soumendranath Mukherjee said that the state would inform the court about the security of the Leader of the Opposition with an affidavit. After that, Justice Mantha gave the state a week.
