Delhi Drugs Control Department writes to CP for deployment of adequate staff to distribute Remdesivir

Special Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Delhi Government writes to the Commissioner of Police to provide police protection at sites engaged in distribution of Remdesivir.

Shri Udit Prakash Rai, Drugs Controller and Special Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department has written to the Police Commissioner seeking adequate protection for dispensation of essential medical supply; Remdesivir.

“Due to sharp increase in COVID cases in Delhi, the demand of the Remdesivir Formulations has increased exponentially. The officials of Drugs Control Department, Govt. of Delhi in association with various CFA/Stockiests/Distributors of various companies involved in their distribution are closely monitoring the availability and distribution of said formulations to make them available to various Hospitals/Nursing Homes and admitted patients. However, steep increase in demand of the said formulations has resulted into long queues of attendants of patients, which are now becoming unmanageable, resulting in Law and Order problem because of this panic situation at these sites”, the letter says.

Enlisting 30 distributors, the department seeks to deploy sufficient security arrangement and police staff at the given sites.
