Three IAS aspirants, Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni, and Navin Dalwin, died in a flooded basement at Rau's IAS Study Circle. The incident caused student protests, blaming the MCD for negligence. In response, officials sealed 13 illegal coaching centers in Old Rajinder Nagar.

The Delhi High Court, on Tuesday, listed the plea seeking the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate the deaths of IAS aspirants in a recent tragedy in the basement of Rau’s IAS coaching center in Rajendra Nagar.

The bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela listed the matter for Wednesday, July 31 at 12:30 PM.

The public interest litigation sought the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate the deaths and to also investigate the institutes that are operating operations illegally without adhering to standard norms. It also sought a directive for the authorities to submit an action-taken report as the instructions issued by a coordinate bench concerning the fire incident at a coaching center in Mukherjee Nagar.

Reportedly, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena announced a compensation of Rs. 10 lakhs for the families of the three deceased civil services aspirants. The Lieutenant Governor also assured action against the erring officials of the Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) within 24 hours.
