Delhi High Court to start live streaming of proceedings in Chief Justice's court from October 11

In a new development, the Delhi High Court will begin live streaming of court proceedings from Wednesday i.e. October 11.

For now, Court No. 01, a bench comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula, will be live-streamed from 10.30 a.m. onwards on October 11. The live streaming will be conducted on a case-to-case basis as per the High Court's directions.

“The live streaming link is available on the home page of the official website of Delhi High Court, https://delhihighcourt.nic.in, under the title – LIVE STREAMING,” the press release stated.

"In pursuit of greater access to justice, the High Court of Delhi is going to start the live streaming of court proceedings on 11 October, 2023 at 10:30 am in Court No. 1 (comprising Hon'ble Mr Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Hon'ble the Chief Justice and Hon'ble Mr Justice Sanjeev Narula) in an identified matter," it said. 

It also stated that the contents of live streaming will be for information purposes only and the live streaming/archival data shall not “constitute the official record of the court proceedings”.

"No person/entity (including print and electronic media, and social media platforms) other than an authorised person/entity shall record, share and/or disseminate live streamed proceedings or archival data," the press release said.

It added, "It is noteworthy that all the courts of the High Court of Delhi are functioning as paperless e-courts with the facility of video conference/hybrid hearing and all the cases, replies, rejoinders, documents, etc, are e-filed through Online c-Fling System only."

In January 2023, the High Court had notified the “Live Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings Rules of the High Court of Delhi, 2022” to imbue greater transparency, inclusivity, and foster access to justice. The rules were notified and came into force after it was published in the official gazette on January 13.
