Counsel Rebecca John in the ongoing Delhi Riots case before ASJ Amitabh Rawat has prayed to Court today morning that tweets by Lawbeat’s twitter handle, reporting on yesterday’s matter be ordered to be taken down as they are allegedly "contemptuous".

She submitted in the hearing today, "Before the case begins, I would like to point out that sections of the reporting by media must be taken down. I don’t know who these people are. A media house named “Lawbeat” has put up Whatsapp messages. This is absolutely contemptuous."

The Court responded saying, "Don’t take screenshots during the court proceedings."

While John has pressed that the screenshots shared by Lawbeat be taken down, the Special Public Prosecutor responded, "an appropriate application may be filed for pulling down tweets which have shared screenshots from yesterday’s hearing. I understand that will be more appropriate”

As part of his arguments, the Special Public Prosecutor had made references to Whatsapp chats between various accused persons which were adduced in the chargesheet and supplementary chargesheets.
