In a case pertaining to a conspiracy to carry out a pressure cooker bombing in Lucknow in 2021, the Allahabad High Court recently granted bail to an alleged al-Qaeda terrorist.
The bench of Justice Attau Rahman Masood and Justice Saroj Yadav on Tuesday allowed the bail plea moved by the accused namely Mohd. Moeed.
The high court has already granted bail to two co-accused in the case. On March 2, 2023, a division bench had allowed the bail plea moved by accused Mohd. Mustaqeem and Mohammad Shakeel. Allegedly, Mustaqeem was a mason by profession whereas Shakeel was an e-rickshaw driver.
Allegations against the present accused- Mohd. Moeed are that he, along with Mustaqeem and Shakeel, aided and abetted co-accused Minhaj Ahmad and Museeruddin in procuring weapons and ammunition for carrying out a pressure cooker bomb attack in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on August 15, 2021.
The FIR in the matter was lodged under Sections 120B IPC and Section 25 (1B)(a) Arms Act.
Last month, the high court granted relief to Mustaqeem and Shakeel considering their unblemished past antecedents and the period of one year and eight months spent by them in custody.
