The case against Tiwari was based on allegations that she had procured a British visa through forgery and cheating
The Bombay High Court recently permitted actor Shweta Tiwari to withdraw her petition seeking to quash an FIR registered against her in a fake visa case.
A division bench of Justice Sarang Kotval and Justice Neela Gokhale allowed the withdrawal after the police filed a report before the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate stating that there was no evidence to proceed against the accused.
The police report, submitted to the high court by the public prosecutor, confirmed the absence of sufficient evidence to pursue the case against Tiwari. Following this, the court permitted her to withdraw the plea.
Following the police report submitted to the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate, actor Shweta Tiwari sought to withdraw her petition from the Bombay High Court.
During the hearing, Tiwari's ex-husband, Abhinav Kohli, informed the court that he intended to file a protest petition against the police report.
The case against Tiwari was based on allegations that she had procured a British visa through forgery and cheating.
The bench however allowed the petition to be withdrawn while noting that "The petition is allowed to be withdrawn. However, it is made clear that both parties are at liberty to initiate appropriate legal proceedings in accordance with the law if an order adverse to either party is passed," the order reads.
