The case pertains to the seizure of a Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) with a face value of Rs. 4,00,000/- (four lakhs).
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court, Patna on Thursday, convicted a Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) trafficker in a case registered in 2019.
The accused, Julkar Sheikh was convicted in a case involving the FICN seizure with a face value of Rs. 4,00,000/- (four lakhs) in his possession by Bihar Police on February 2, 2019.
Sheikh has been convicted under Sections 489 B and 489 C, and 120 B read with 498 B of IPC. The quantum of punishment against him would be pronounced by the NIA court, Patna on September 8.
As per the NIA Press release, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Bettiah, Police Station, West Champaran, Bihar on February 2, 2019, and then was re-registered by NIA on February 21, 2019.
Earlier, on February 25, 2022, and March 30, 2022, the NIA Special Court in Patna, convicted and sentenced three accused persons in this case to rigorous imprisonment and fine.
