"Be that as it may, this is really sorry state of affairs that the petitioner filed a petition enclosing therewith the forged and fictitious documents", court said
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on June 18 dismissed the plea of a 2024 NEET Undergraduate Exam aspirant, who claimed that the National Testing Agency (NTA) had failed to release her result and that her OMR answer sheet was found torn.
Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan observed that the petitioner, Ayushi Patel, had submitted forged documents with her petition.
When the forged and fictitious documents came to light, the counsel for the NTA informed the court that the NTA has decided to take legal action in the case.
To this, Patel's counsel stated that he had no further arguments and requested permission to withdraw the petition.
The court remarked, "Be that as it may, this is really sorry state of affairs that the petitioner filed a petition enclosing therewith the forged and fictitious documents". Therefore, it refused to restrain the competent authority/authorities to take any legal action against the petitioner.
Patel claimed that she received a communication from the NTA stating that her result would not be declared because her OMR sheet was torn. She reiterated these allegations in a video posted on social media, which caused a significant uproar amid ongoing concerns about irregularities in the conduct of the NEET undergraduate medical entrance exam.
The petitioner demanded a manual evaluation of her OMR sheet and called for action against the NTA.
On June 12, during a session with the vacation bench, Justice Rajesh Singh directed the NTA to present the student's original records. Following this order, NTA's Deputy Director, Sandeep Sharma, submitted the student's original documents along with an accompanying affidavit.
