IndiGo Crisis: Delhi HC to Take Up PIL on December 10 Over Support and Refunds for Affected Passengers

Delhi HC to hear PIL seeking relief for passengers affected by IndiGo flight cancellations
A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed before the Delhi High Court seeking relief for passengers affected by the large-scale IndiGo flight crisis. The plea asks the Union government to ensure ground support and timely refunds for travellers amid widespread operational disruption.
The matter was mentioned today for urgent listing before a Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.
Appearing for the petitioner, counsel submitted that thousands of travellers have been stranded at airports without adequate support systems, and urged the Court to issue directions to IndiGo and ground personnel to assist stranded passengers and expedite refunds.
When the Bench noted that the Centre had already issued certain directions in connection with the ongoing disruptions, counsel acknowledged the same but maintained that judicial intervention remained necessary. The Court accordingly directed that the PIL be listed for hearing on Wednesday, December 10.
The plea has been filed at a time when IndiGo continues to cancel flights across its network, with the airline’s operational crisis now entering its seventh consecutive day.
Bench: Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.
Hearing Date: 8 December 2025
