Court was hearing an appeal filed by a convict who has been sentenced to life imprisonment in a 'Jaish-E-Mohamad Conspiracy Case' by the NIA Court in Delhi.
The Delhi High Court will hear the appeal filed by Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat@ Ishfaq Bhatt @ Ishfaq who has been convicted and sentenced by the NIA Court, Delhi to life imprisonment in a 'Jaish-E-Mohamad Conspiracy Case' on March 24.
Ishfaq has been sentenced for various offences under IPC and UAPA.
During the hearing today, the counsel appearing Ishfaq submitted that the present matter is related to the same First Information Report (FIR), same RC, and same order passed by the bench in other connected appeals. He requested that the matter be re-notified along with the connected appeals.
Taking note of the submissions, a division bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Talwant Singh re-notified the matter for March 24 along with the connected appeal matters.
“Let the matter be re-notified along with the connected appeals before us”, the bench said.
It is to be noted that in November 2022, the NIA Court, in Delhi sentenced Ishfaq to life imprisonment, Rigorous imprisonment, and a fine. He was sentenced under Sections 121A, and 120B of IPC and Sections 18, 19, 38, and 39 of the UAPA.
Notably, on January 19, 2023, the division bench issued notice to NIA in an appeal filed by four convicts namely, Bilal Ahmad Mir@ Billa, Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat @ Muzaffar Bhat, Mehraj-Ud-din Chopan@ Mehraj, and Sajad Ahmad Khan who were also sentenced by the NIA Court, Delhi in November 2022 for life imprisonment in a 'Jaish-E-Mohamad Conspiracy Case'.
