The case involved the seizure of large quantities of electrical and electronic items, tools, chemical apparatus, containers, and other items used in the fabrication of bombs and IEDs from the JMB hideout in Bengaluru.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court, Bengaluru on Saturday i.e. January 14, 2023, sentenced four Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) members in a case related to the seizure of huge quantities of electrical & electronic items, tools, chemical apparatus, containers, etc. used for fabrication of bombs and IEDs, etc. from the hideout of JMB in Bengaluru.
The four convicts are:
- Kador Kazi @ Mijanur Rahaman
- Mustafizur Rahman @ Tuhin
- Adil Sheikh @ Asadullah
- Abdul Karim @ Korim Sk
All four accused have been sentenced to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment and fine under Sections 120B, 395, 452, 397, 399, 458, 468, 471 of IPC, Sections 17, 18, 20 & 23 of UA (P) Act, 1967 and Section 25 (1) of Arms Act.
The investigations revealed that the convicts raised funds by committing dacoities in various locations in Bengaluru to further the activities of JMB in India, as well as collected explosive materials and tested a rocket launcher for the commission of terrorist acts.
“The ‘proceeds of crime-dacoity’ in the form of gold was sold by the accused for raising funds for carrying out terror activities. 11 accused have been arrested and charge-sheeted so far and 3 accused have been convicted in the case earlier”, the NIA press release read.
As per the NIA, press release the case was initially registered by Karnataka Police at Soladevanahalli Police Station, Bengaluru on July 7, 2019, and later was re-registered by NIA on July 29, 2019.
