JUDGE hearing Delhi Excise Policy Scam Transferred, Uber Rape Case Judge will now hear case

Judge Nagpal, who had been involved in these cases since the beginning, will now assume the role of District Judge (Commercial) at Tis Hazari Court, marking a notable shift in his judicial responsibilities
In a significant reshuffle within Delhi's judicial services, Rouse Avenue Court Special Judge MK Nagpal, who was presiding over cases related to the Delhi excise policy scam, has been transferred.
Following Nagpal's departure, the responsibility of presiding over cases related to the Delhi excise policy will now fall upon Judge Kaveri Baweja, who is renowned for her pivotal role in convicting the Uber rape case accused. She gained prominence for her decisive handling of the Uber rape case in 2014. As a fast-track judge, she convicted Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav for the rape and endangerment of a 25-year-old woman in his taxi.
Judge Nagpal, who had been involved in these cases since the beginning, will now assume the role of District Judge (Commercial) at Tis Hazari Court, marking a notable shift in his judicial responsibilities.
Prior to his transfer, Judge Nagpal granted BRS MLC K Kavitha seven days of remand to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi excise policy money laundering case.
The Delhi excise policy case has attracted considerable attention due to its implications for various political figures and stakeholders. Allegations of corruption and malpractice surrounding the implementation of the excise policy have led to the arrest and investigation of several prominent individuals, including former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, and Telangana legislator K Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Sisodia and Singh find themselves in judicial custody, while Kavitha remains under the scrutiny of the Enforcement Directorate.
Apart from Judge Nagpal, a total of 27 judges from the Delhi Higher Judicial Services (DHJS) and 31 judges from the Delhi Judicial Services (DJS) have been transferred, as per the transfer posting list issued by the Delhi High Court.
