When Vasan and his friends were returning from a trip to Maharashtra, on September 17, Vasan lost control of his motorcycle while attempting a wheelie, resulting in an accident

The Madras High Court, on Thursday, declined to grant bail to TTF Vasan, also known as Vauikunthavasan, a prominent YouTube vlogger and motorcyclist.

Vasan had been taken into custody on September 19, 2023, following an incident on the Chennai-Vellor National Highway during a bike stunt gone awry.

The single judge bench of Justice CV Karthikeyan denied the relief to the racer stating that retaining Vasan in custody would serve as a valuable lesson.

During the proceedings, the Additional Public Prosecutor contended that Vasan's substantial social media following, totaling over 4.5 million, exerted influence on young individuals to coerce their parents into purchasing expensive motorcycles.

When Vasan and his friends were returning from a trip to Maharashtra, on September 17, Vasan lost control of his motorcycle while attempting a wheelie, resulting in an accident. He suffered minor injuries in the incident, while his motorcycle was severely damaged.

Passers-by came to his aid, and he was transported to a private hospital for treatment.

Subsequently, Vasan faced multiple charges under sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code, along with section 184 (Dangerous Driving) and other provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Following a medical examination at the Government General Hospital, he was brought before a court for remand which ordered him to be remanded in judicial custody for 15 days till October 3.

After his bail petition was denied by the Kanchipuram Sessions Court on September 26, Vasan sought bail from the Madras High Court.
